About the Marine & PWC protocols — OBD (slave)
Adds the Marine & PWC OBD protocols to a KESS3 you already own, as a slave. Alientech activates them on your tool’s serial number: no second tool, nothing to send back.
What it tunes
Engine ECUs in outboard and inboard marine engines and personal watercraft (jet skis).
How it connects
By OBD: through the vehicle’s diagnostic socket, without taking the ECU out. The quickest way in, on every ECU Alientech supports by OBD.
Files by MMT
As a slave, KESS3 reads and writes and its files are tuned by its master. Buy it from MMT and that master is MMT: every file is written in house in Nottingham, checked on our own rolling road and sent back through your MMT portal, ready to write.
Before you order
Send MMT your KESS3 serial number with the order, so the protocols go on the right tool. Not sure what your tool already has? Send us a screenshot of it in the Alientech software.

Questions about the Marine & PWC protocols — OBD (slave)
Do I need a new KESS3?
No. Protocols are activated by Alientech on the KESS3 you already own, on its serial number. Nothing is posted and nothing has to be sent back.
My KESS3 was bought somewhere else. Can I add these?
If it is a master, or was bought from MMT, yes. A slave belongs to its master, so protocols for a slave of another master go through that master. Send MMT the serial number and we check.
Who tunes the files?
MMT. A slave reads and writes; each file goes to MMT through your portal, is written in house in Nottingham and checked on our own rolling road, and comes back ready to write. You need no tuning software or calibration skills.
What happens after the 12 months of updates?
The subscription is renewed each year to keep receiving Alientech’s updates and new vehicles, through MMT as your dealer. Renew before it has been expired for 60 days: after that Alientech adds a realignment fee.
